The District of Columbia Metro Cricket Organisation (DCMCO) will launch its annual cricket competition tomorrow at 6:00pm at the Malteenoes Sports Club located on Thomas Road in Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
The details of the competition will be unveiled at tomorrow’s launching. A press release yesterday, however, stated that DCMCO was formed in June 1997 and has enjoyed continued support with cricket as its primary focus.
Since 2004, the organisation was recognised as a non–profit organisation, which allowed them to broaden their objectives to include educational and charitable goals. They are a recognised body under United States of America laws.
“The shift in focus also allowed us to formalize some of our outreach programs that we had initiated several years ago” the release said.
As part of that new initiative, the group has awarded several scholarships to University of Guyana students and has also significant charitable donations to Joshua’s House, an orphanage in Georgetown.
