Overseas-based Guyanese Percival Ross yesterday pleaded guilty to trafficking in narcotics and was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment and fined $3.743 million with an alternative of six months jail.
The fine represents 10 times the value of the drug.
Ross appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton after he was found with 3kgs 863 grams of cocaine in his suitcase at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport on Sunday.
