DEAR EDITOR,
It was deeply touching to read in our newspapers about 15-year-old Shaleeza Khan’s tragedy, whose battered and nude body was found on the Hope Estate road.
Mr. Editor, when and how will we be able to move beyond these beastly and murderous cruelties? For what reason, in the name of all the Gods, could have impelled another human to so brutishly rip apart the life of a 15-year-old girl?
These are the cases that the Police should be assiduously stalking, and should not rest until these perverted psychopaths are found/captured. This Sheliza crime and other such similar types must be equally and meaningfully acted upon, no different from other forms of gruesome killings.
These outrageous acts are having a frightening and negative effect on the conscience of our society, especially on the now generation.
People are reading these horrific things and don’t seen to bother much, except if it is someone they know or can identify with, and this is not healthy.
But it was equally healthy and emotional when I read that the Ministry of Human Services and
Social Security was covering the entire funeral expenses. They must be commended for correctly so living up to their responsibility to the mother, sister and brothers of Sheliza. My heart bleeds and I shed a tear with you as my sharing part, I wish I could have done more.
Frank Fyffe
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
