Thirty-nine students selected from 15 high and secondary schools within Georgetown commenced a four-week work study attachment at the Guyana Police Force yesterday. The students were selected from St Joseph’s and Central High, Christ Church, North Georgetown and Dolphin Secondary Schools.
A release from the Police said that the Force, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has been facilitating the Students Work Study Programme for several years, the aim of which is exposing the students to the world of work.
This group is the largest to be accommodated by the Police Force so far.
During their work study programme, students will be attached to various sections of the Force, including the Criminal Investigation Department, Force Headquarters, Immigration, the Felix Austin Police College, the General Office, Quartermaster’s Stores, the Commissioner’s Office, Force Control, Construction Section and the Band Room where, in addition, they will be sensitized to some of the activities of the organisation.
It is expected that another group of students will conduct their stint with the Guyana Police Force from August 4.
