Republic Bank (Guy) Limited has for the third successive year joined hands with the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) to support their Sports Development Camp.
The Camp which is set to commence next Tuesday (July 8th) caters for some sixty (60) Grade 6 students who are now preparing for entrance to Secondary School when the new term begins in September.
At the helm of the cam will be Senior Retired Head Master Ashlim Rahaman and his main focus will be to prepare the students for the eminent change of environment from Primary to Secondary School as well as to develop their skills in several sports which include cricket, table tennis and chess.
Classroom work also forms part of the work programme over the period with Mathematics, English, Integrated Science and Social Studies will be taught.
Lectures on social issues important to youths will also be done, among them, HIV/AIDS, Peer Pressure, Importance of Education and Personal Hygiene.
Last Thursday Republic Bank handed over the sponsorship cheque valued at $104,000 to the club at a presentation ceremony at its Rose Hall Town Branch.
Club Treasurer Dawn Hicks in accepting the sponsorship noted that the Educational and Sports Camp is part of the Club’s Anti-Drug and Pro-Education Campaign which seeks to promote sports and education as an alternative to a life of drugs and crime.
Administrative Officer of the Rose Hall Town Branch, Seema Narine stated that Republic Bank places a lot of emphasis on education and was pleased to be associated with the Camp.
