Guyanese Walk Racers are expected to take on their CARICOM counterparts when the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club in association with the Green Path Foundation stage its CARICOM Day 2008 Race Walk on Monday July 7.
The walkers who will vie for honors in the senior male and female, junior and veteran categories will move off from the Guysuco LBI Estate and proceed along the Railway Embankment ending at the CARICOM Headquarters, Lillendaal.
CARICOM Secretary General Dr. Edwin Carrington has been invited to start the race and later present prizes to the top walkers.
National Race Walk champion Rudolph Mitchell is highly favored to capture his 76th consecutive local title.
Trophies and other incentives will be up for grabs and persons wishing to participate must be at the starting line at 06:00hrs.
