The police are investigating what seems to be an electrocution at Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, which resulted in the death of 35-year-old Elton Dutchin.
Dutchin’s brother, Stanley, discovered him lying in a trench at around 16:50 hours yesterday afternoon at Covent Garden Sea Dam.
Reports state that Dutchin normally works as a handyman in the neighbourhood.
According to the police, it appears that the man was running illegal wires for someone and was electrocuted in the process.
This newspaper understands that Dutchin had burn marks near the right side armpit, left side thumb and left index finger.
His brother said that he last saw Dutchin on Monday afternoon.
Police investigations are continuing.
