Three women are in the 14 member playing squad for the West Indies Blind cricket camp and tour to England.
The touring party originally consisted of 15 players, three from each of the territories involved in Blind cricket in the region with one from each sight category, but last minute financial problems at the national level have forced the Guyanese to withdraw one of its players.
The squad under Manager Harrilall Kissoon of Trinidad and Tobago, coach Bharat Mangru of Guyana and Physio Nicola Yard of Barbados will assemble at UWI Cave Hill Campus on July 26 for a four-day camp before moving on to England for a three match series.
While in Barbados, the team will play two 40-over matches against a London Community Cricket Association team on Sunday 27th and Tuesday 29th respectively.
In England the team will play three back to back games against the England senior team in the city of Birmingham.
The West Indies cricket Council for the Blind have dubbed this tour as strictly development focusing on the younger players whose ages range from 16 -30, all in preparation for the 2010 cricket world cup for the blind scheduled for the Asian sub-continent.
Although some funds have been received to facilitate the tour, the board wishes to appeal to the business community to support the initiative at both the national and regional levels.
Meanwhile, the board will hold its next executive and annual general meeting in Barbados next month.
