Employees of Cellphone Shack located on North Road, Bourda arrived at their workplace yesterday morning to find the structure broken into and more than $2M in items stolen.
Operations Manager, Paul Parasram, said that he learnt that at around 08:00 hrs employees attempting to gain entry into the building realized that the door to the staircase leading to the upper flat was forcibly wrenched open with what they suspected was a metal bar.
The upper flat houses a barber establishment.
Parasram said that further investigations revealed that the intruders had ripped a large hole in the wall separating the staircase from the interior of Cellphone Shack and thus gained entry into that section of the building.
According to the Operations Manager, the bandits removed cellular phones, laptops, flat screen monitors and other items.
He added that among the cellular phones stolen, many turned out to be several that were left for repairs with the entity by customers.
Parasram admitted that the security alarm has been down for some two weeks and that the security cameras only record activity at the cell phone store during working hours.
He indicated that it is the first time that the facility has been targeted by bandits. Enquiries from nearby residents yielded nothing. They all claimed to have heard nothing that would indicate the store was being broken into.
