Fearful that justice may not be fully served, the mothers of several of the school girls who have alleged that they were sexually molested by two teenaged brothers have voiced their concerns to this newspaper on the matter.
Reports are that the boys, aged 14 and 17, were detained by police after information surfaced that they have been reportedly raping students of two prominent city schools.
It is alleged that the sex acts were carried out at the boys’ Charlestown home.
The boys, who are both students of one of the city’s prominent schools, are said to be a part of a five-member gang.
They were released from lawful custody, each on $10,000 station bail, on Wednesday.
According to a relative of the boys, during their detention at the police station, several parents and their daughters began showing up claiming that the daughters were all sexually molested by the two boys.
This newspaper understands that at least five of the girls have since been medically examined and it has been proven that they have been sexually active for some time.
However, what is baffling the relatives of the boys is the fact that all the victims are claiming that they were molested since last year.
In addition, they are claiming that the boys are now being victimised and have even been threatened physical harm.
But according to one vocal mother of a molested girl, the concerns of the boys’ relatives are baseless, adding that even the mother of the boys is just as guilty as they are.
She said that her first hand experience with the family was during last February when the mother of the boys on repeated occasions telephoned her home asking to speak with her 13-year-old daughter.
Suspicious that something was amiss, the woman said that she would screen each call that came for her daughter.
On one occasion the woman said that she was not able to answer the phone but was however able to listen in and heard when the woman told her daughter to call her younger son.
She noted that her daughter became acquainted with the boy through a friend who reportedly had a relationship with the older brother.
The concerned mother said it is her belief that the woman worked in alliance with her sons to lure the girls to the house where the sexual acts were committed, a notion which has been echoed by several of the mothers.
The woman said that as far as she knows, all of the acts were committed this year, with the most recent being two Saturdays ago when the brothers in the company of three out-of-school boys gang-raped a young school girl.
The woman related that it was reported that the boys performed oral, anal and other perverted sexual acts on the girl and then burnt her with a candle after she objected to them repeating the demeaning process.
It was also reported that the boys had also sexually molested another young girl who they took nude photographs of and circulated at several city schools.
According to the distraught woman, she has no sympathy for the mother of the boys, adding that “she (the mother) should be charged for aiding and abetting” since it was in her home that all of the acts were reportedly carried out over a period of time to which she apparently had no objection.
The woman said that she and the mothers of the other molested girls are dissatisfied with the actions of the police, even as she speculated that the family has police connections.
She related that after the boys were released on bail the matter was immediately taken to the Human Services Ministry and was brought directly to the attention of Minister Priya Manickchand and a Probation Officer, contrary to claims of the boys’ relatives that no probation officer has been called into the matter.
