A massive operation by members of the Guyana Police and Defence Forces over the weekend led to the destruction of six fields of marijuana in the Wisroc, Linden area.
The operation took place between 08:15 and 13:55 hours on Saturday.
According to a Police press release, the fields totalled an area of four and a half acres and comprised approximately 8,700 plants between one and 10 feet in height, with an estimated weight of 2,250 kilograms.
In addition to the six fields, 200 kilograms of dried marijuana, six nurseries containing about 3,250 seedlings, and four camps were found and destroyed.
