Dear Editor,
The Minister of Finance had reason to sound a warning to officials who show little respect for time and timeliness. It seems acceptable for persons to be strolling into events after the official start.
This is plain disrespectful and should not be tolerated. I have found that it is useful in notices for the convening of meetings, conferences, workshops and other staff engagements to indicate that participants must be seated at least fifteen minutes before the official commencement.
Late comers should not be allowed in until a suitable and appropriate time in the programme allows it. Certainly not while the guest speaker is on the floor/at the podium.
