Dear Editor,
I read the letter about the unfortunate experience of the prospective bride and the proposed venue for her “happy day” at a certain “hotel’. I refer to the following; “Unconscionable behavior by a hotel’s management,” KN, Monday, July, 24, 2017. Over a period of time, I have come to the conclusion that temporary “lodging places” and similar outfits in Guyana, are all about making as much money as possible in the shortest time possible, and people planning functions should be very careful in doing their research.
I still remember paying US$5.00 at the start of my last guest house short holiday in Georgetown, to have my suitcase deposited and left just inside the front door for ‘taxi collection’ on departure. The suitcase was left at the top of the second set of stairs leading to the front door. Fortunately, a relative came to collect me, and he carried it down. I have warned others about the antics of this outfit – minimal service, etc. for maximum charges.
Exploitation generally! Let the buyer beware. Do your research.
