The Executive and members of the Guyana Cricket Board is expressing its immense appreciation and satisfaction with the performance of our young West Indies Under-19 stars against some very tough opponents on their home soil, the board stated in a release.
To say that this tournament was closely fought would be a misnomer as it literally went down to the last ball of the 5 match series where our Under 19 superstars came out victorious 3-2 in a nail-biting series. We are positive that this series win on foreign soil against very strong competition would provide much needed confidence to our boys as they prepare to defend the ICC Under 19 World Cup shortly, the board stated.
Congratulations must be extended to our young rising star, BhaskarYadram, who was fittingly named the Man of the Series since he top scored for the WI with the bat in the series and played a very instrumental role with the ball, so much so, that he was given the last over of the series to defend 11 runs and 3 runs in the last 2 balls. WI eventually won the series decider by 2 runs after he bowled 3 dot balls.
We are extremely proud of his indisputable talent and accomplishments and join the entire Guyana in wishing him well in his future exploits on the cricket field and feel confident that he is ready to play a pivotal role in the defence of our ICC Cup.
Congrats are also extended to the entire WI Under 19 team and its management for a great series win, the GCB noted.
