Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Basil Williams, yesterday warned of a fake email in
circulation that speaks of his party’s plans to strategically deal with a number of burning issues.
Williams said the email was circulated while he was in Cabinet.
“The Attorney General (AG) says that the email is another wicked and desperate attempt by the Opposition People’s Progressive Party/Civic to deflect from the recent exposure of its failure in the National Assembly.
Denying the email, the AG said, “Non est factum. Don’t use me to change conversations; I can make my own news.”
The AG added that from his own investigations the email address purporting to be his was recently created.
He said that there is an “Uppercase B in the fake email”. However his email was created with a lowercase b for Basil.
“Furthermore, the fake email’s inbox revealed four, while AG’s email inbox has around 1000. Efforts are being made to verify in whose name it is registered. Additionally Mr. Raphael Trotman is not a member of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR).”
According to the fake email circulated by one Adron Pires to media houses, there were two attachments. One purportedly indicated that the AG wrote Minister of Citizenship, Winston Felix, talking about an impending third term case involving former President Bharrat Jagdeo and possible interference with the Judiciary.
“Assure them boys that the Jagdeo third term thing not going anywhere. Cummings (Chancellor (Ag) Yonette Cummings) will slow it down here and some of our people talking to Judges. No fear, CCJ (Caribbean Court of Justice) is a black people thing.”
The other attachment purportedly showed an email sent by Williams to several Ministers including Joseph Harmon, Amna Ally, Winston Felix and Raphael Trotman speaking of an action plan to reverse some tax measures and use “friendly” media houses to reverse the tide of poor sentiments for the administration.
Williams made it clear that the email was totally fake.
LISTEN HOW JAGDEO WILL MAKE ALL GUYANESE RICH!!!
