Dear Editor,
I’ve noticed that the sleeping beauties in the Guyana Bar Association have finally awakened, well, somewhat. And their first grenade launched, is about its “concern that there has not yet been an agreement on the appointment of the Chairman of the Elections Commission.”
That’s fine, but it’s the same Bar Association that’s so quiet on the many INEFFICIENCIES of the Judiciary. Not a word on acting judges, lengthy delays in trials of persons who are languishing in prisons, shortage of magistrates, reports of corruption by judicial officers, inconsistencies in sentences, and not a word on the impasse between the DPP and a magistrate. After all, charity begins at home.
