VYBZ Entertainment satisfied with incident-free Linden Town Week…
By Enid Joaquin
Chairman of VYBZ Entertainment Winston (Zar) Caesar has expressed satisfaction with the recently held Linden town week, which was hosted by the organization in collaboration with the Linden Mayor and Town Council.
“I can say without any reservations whatsoever, that the Linden Town Week of activities was successful and VYBZ Entertainment is very satisfied – I am satisfied, and given VYBZ’s performance over the three years, the organization has held the franchise, for the hosting of the event, I don’t see anything standing in the way of our bidding for the franchise for 2018.”
Vybz Entertainment was awarded the franchise for Linden Town Week for a period of three years beginning in 2015.
According to its executives, as franchise holders of the auspicious event that celebrates Linden as a Town, their focus has always been to ensure that quality entertainment is achieved through cultural, educational and celebratory activities in commemoration of the Town’s birth.
This year, more than 72 events were planned and executed during the ten days of activities.
The event was held under the theme,” Reflect, Refocus, Moving Forward with Unity and Strength for Our Community Development.”
According to information coming out of VYBZ Entertainment, the committee had met and reflected on 2015 and 2016 and subsequent to discussions it was decided that it was time to refocus and address the many requests made by supporters.
Consequently a number of community and family oriented events were identified and agreed on to be executed.
“It was not just agreed that VYBZ will host all these new events, but that events of this nature proposed by private promoters, will be encouraged and supported by Vybz by way of addition to the calendar of events.”
Thus, of the 22 new events that were agreed on, 19 were executed. The events culminated on a high note with the International Concert at the Mackenzie sports Club Ground and Duck Curry Competition on May 1.
The Vybz family has however expressed their profound disappointment that the signature Miss Linden Pageant and the Big & Bold Pageant did not form a part of this year’s town week activities.
It was pointed out that the organization would have engaged a number of agencies and individuals since 2016 to ensure the execution of these two events, but unfortunately due to a lack of commitment that did not happen.
Nonetheless Vybz Entertainment and the Linden Mayor and Town Council who worked collaboratively with the Police in E Division, are announcing, that they successfully hosted 11 of the largest party or sporting events during a single period without major incident.
Those events included the Guinness In The Streets, L & L Anniversary Party, Annual All White Party, Annual Stag Bowl Football Competition, GoMoseley Big People Party: The One Man Band Fete, Wismar Big Lime, Colour Party, Mackenzie Main Big Lime, The International Concert, The Duck Curry Competition and the unmatched VYBZ Regional All Black Party.
The organization in acknowledging the staging of these events successfully extends special thanks to all the promoters that came on board to make many of those events possible.
Apart from the usual business oriented events there were many “nonprofit” events hosted during the week of activities.
Promoters have therefore had their work cut out to change this negative perception, and VYBZ Entertainment over the past three years, has been working assiduously to change that. Only time will tell if their efforts will guarantee them another three years to host the prestigious event.
Meanwhile veteran promoters Kashief and Shanghai have already signaled their intention to bid for the coveted Franchise.
