Suriname’s authorities are reportedly investigating a fraud at its embassy in Guyana.
According to an online report yesterday, from Times of Suriname, $100,000 is missing.
It was unclear whether it was US dollars or Guyana currency.
The report said that a staffer, whose name was given as Pamela A., was fingered.
It was also disclosed that Suriname’s state auditors, the Central Accountants Service (CLAD) had been called into conduct the investigation at the Queenstown, Georgetown embassy.
According to a CLAD representative, the staffer will have to take responsibility for the money. The staffer has reportedly been told to hand over her work keys and stay off the job.
However the staffer has claimed that it is not $100,000 but far less she had in her possession.
However, state auditors are claiming it is much more.
