The Linden Town week, which started out as Linden Town Day, celebrates its twenty first anniversary this year.
The idea was one conceptualized by popular Linden businessman Norville Fredericks. This year’s event was hosted by VYBZ entertainment, which has held the franchise for the past three years. It was a collaborative effort between the group and the Linden Mayor and Town Council.
Some of the events this year included fitness walks and karaoke competitions; Young Dee jays competition, football tournaments, river tours, gospel concerts ,spelling bees, essay writing competitions and a duck curry competition.
The concept parties, which undoubtedly drew the largest crowds, included the color party at Christianburg hosted by the Linden Dream Team, the All Black at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, all White at Shanghai’s residence and the “Big man don’t go outtta style” at the Mackenzie bandstand. The latter was hosted by popular Lindener and radio personality Gordon Moseley. It is one of the few events that catered to mature folks. (Enid Joaquin)
