Organisers of the second staging of the Annual Boyce & Jefford Relay Festival & Family Fun Day were forced to postpone the event until next Sunday.
The event which was scheduled to be held yesterday, at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary had to be postponed due to the inclement weather that left the ground waterlogged in some places and the Organisers had no other option than to push back the highly anticipated Relay Festival & Fun Day for one week.
According to Co-organiser Edison Jefford, sections of the ground were under water and that would have made it difficult for competitors in the cycling and wheel chair races to really perform at optimum.
Jefford added that because of their desire to give the fans maximum entertainment, they decided to push it back until next Sunday to allow the ground to dry sufficiently so that the athletes could give their best display.
He further disclosed that the events remain the same and he expects the usual large turnout of support for all the planned activities.
Apart from athletics, 5-a-side football featuring most of the top teams in the format, wheel chair races, cycling and Dominoes are planned for the one-day sporting extravaganza.
