Dear Editor,
It seems that the former AG has an agenda to ensure that racism is the talk of the day. He seems to be inciting racial conflict amongst Berbician on his weekly TV program on NTN Berbice. Last Tuesday (April 11th, 2017) he mentioned that Mr. Eric Phillips wrote an article that was published in the 11th April 2017 edition of Kaieteur News and he said that according to the article Indians are criminals. Well, Nandlall seems to be losing it, the article was published on the 10th April and nowhere in the article did Mr. Phillips mention anything of the sort.
Nandlall went on to say that, this government and Mr. Phillips are claiming that the economy under the PPP was drugs or narco monies. Well, it’s a fact. But Nandlall further said that what the man mean is that “only Indians are drug dealers”. He even said that Mr. Phillips is telling the nation that all the big buildings that were constructed under the PPP were built with drugs money, especially if they are owned by Indians.
He went on to say that Mr. Phillips is saying to the Amerindians that they are not the first people of this Land. Nandlall said that Phillips is telling the Amerindians that they do not deserve lands in Guyana. All this is far from the truth that was stated in the article. Brothers and Sisters, Nandlall is stirring up real ethnic tensions in Guyana especially in Berbice.
This MP should be ashamed to make these false statements and still call himself a Guyanese of worth. He is nothing more than an ethnic preacher and using the people that believe in his cries to gain political points for his personal gains and the PPP.
It seems as all this man is doing is dividing a nation that wants peace and unity. The GNBA is dead. Are they monitoring the political programs on TV or they are not prepared to sanction those that wants to create racial tension by making racial remarks by using certain medium?.
I call on all Berbicians to denounce Nandlall’s racial comments and call on him to stop his nonsense once for all. Berbicians are a peaceful people, living, sharing, eating, dwelling, going places together, etc.
We will or must not encourage those that want to divide us. I call on the PPP to ask its man to stop the racial incitement that will drive fear into the lives of all. I call on the leader of the opposition to demand that the entire PPP stop using the race card and join hands with this government towards uniting Guyana. I call on the Hon. Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo MP, who holds responsibility for GNBA to tell them to do their work and monitor these political programs. I ask of you to ensure that we put a stop to anyone and everyone that uses the public domain to incite racism amongst our people. Berbicians must reject the bigoted sermons of Nandlall no matter which political party we belong to.
