The winning streak of Buxton Stars was halted when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Golden Stars as rivalry in the East Demerara Football Association 2016/17 Senior League continued at the Golden Grove ground, East Coast Demerara on Sunday afternoon last.
Five minutes into the match, Golden Stars took the lead on account of a Samall Woodman goal, an advantage that they held on to until the second half when Buxton Stars’ Dennis Fordyce neutralized that advantage to level proceedings at 1-1.
The confident Buxton side that is the hottest team in the league this season would take the lead for the first time in the match on nine minutes after equalising through a Shamar Scott goal. The table leaders were in line to take yet another victory but added on time worked in favour of Golden Stars as they earned an equal share of the points when Rundell Liverpool delivered a dagger on 99 minutes.
The other scheduled match did not come off since Bachelors Adventure/Paradise Sports Club failed to show up for their match with Ann’s Grove which was given the walk over.
