A man is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation after he was stabbed to the
abdomen by another man who accused him of taunting his wife.
Yesterday, Leeland Marco appeared before City Magistrate Fabayo Azore and was accused of wounding Terrence Lindo with intent to commit murder on April 8, at 111 Miles, Mahdia.
The accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that Lindo was consuming alcohol at a place when Marco and his wife walked past.
The prosecutor related that as the man and his wife were walking, Lindo began “troubling” the woman and her husband got annoyed, whipped out a knife from his pants pocket and stabbed the victim.
However, Attorney Madan Kissoon who represented the accused told the court that his client pushed Lindo into a nearby drain that was under construction.
According to the attorney, the victim fell and landed on some steel rods that were being used in the construction process.
Prosecutor Telford indicated that the case file is still incomplete because detectives have been unable to take a statement from the victim who is unable to speak. Marco will return to court today before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
