Open the papers and the consistent propaganda of this man stares you in the face as you read the letter pages. It is Leslie Ramsammy who writes a missive more than once a week. He is published in the Kaieteur News, too, because a newspaper has to open up itself to all kinds of views outside of libel and distasteful descriptions.
Whenever you hear the name Leslie Ramsammy you think of what a mess Guyana is. This is the man who as Minister of Health was in charge of Guyana’s medical system where people died after waiting for more than eight hours to see a doctor at the Accident and Emergency at the Georgetown Hospital. This was the man who when he was Minister of Health, there were questionable deaths of people who were in police custody at the hospital.
During the crime spree, 2002-2005, Mark Thomas, called Kerzorkie, was arrested by the police for involvement in an extra-judicial squad that went around killing people as part of a gang to hunt down persons associated with the Buxton gunmen. Thomas was arrested for the extra-judicial hit on a man named Shafeek Bacchus who was part of the group but broke off and was willing to talk. Thomas was poisoned on his hospital bed. Samples sent to Trinidad returned inconclusive. Whatever substance that was used to kill Thomas was arranged by a skillful person.
The police arrested David Leander called “Biscuit” for multiple murders, including the Minister of Agriculture, Sash Sawh’s. He was a member of the “Fine Man” killing machine. Leander was transferred from the Camp Street prison to the Georgetown Public Hospital after complaining of being unwell. While at the hospital he died. The post-mortem could not reveal the cause of death. The theory is that he was poisoned. As in the case of Thomas, toxicology reports were inconclusive. Whoever poisoned Leander knew his/her art.
Leslie Ramsammy was also the Minister of Health when the Roger Khan infamy began. Khan had in his possession a state of the art laptop that was used by governments for intelligence purposes. In common jargon it is called spy equipment. It is a sophisticated device that under US law could only be sold to governments. The Miami shop that sold it said that a Minister of the Guyana Government was the purchaser. Leslie Ramsammy was named by the manager as the buyer.
Only in Guyana could Ramsammy roam freely without being investigated for activities during the crime spree. Ramsammy’s name has been called by Selwyn Vaughn who cooperated with US authorities in their investigations of Roger Khan. Vaughn testified at the trial of Khan’s lawyer, Robert Simmel, that Khan ordered the murder of Ronald Waddell. After the assassination that night, Vaughn said Khan contacted Ramsammy. When that information was put to Ramsammy he denied it. He said at the time of Waddell’s homicide, he was mourning the death of his father.
It was under Ramsammy as Minister of Agriculture, we saw the decline of the sugar industry and the white elephant named Skeldon factory. Ramsammy recently resurfaced in Guyana and is writing two letters a week in the newspapers, the contents of which are mischievous and depraved.
For example, he referred to an outbreak of leptospirosis in Region Three with six deaths. This was a figment of his imagination. There is no outbreak, there was never one and no such deaths occurred.
Ramsammy can be likened to a rams- horn that the Guyanese people should show disgust for. The Granger Government owes the parents, siblings and wives of over five hundred men who were killed during a wave of mayhem between 2002 and 2005 an obligation to investigate this period. Leslie Ramsammy must be made to give explanations for the myriad of questions surrounding him. He may not have done anything at all but that could only be determined by a judicial commission of enquiry.
To think that this man has a background of frightening controversy yet has the temerity to denounce the government for policies that would be pebbles compared to what the Jagdeo regime did to Guyana, Ramsammy finds the parking meter contract abominable.
Shouldn’t Ramsammy tell us about his own contract like the lap top purchase? Does he find any policy that Jagdeo implemented repugnant? Is there anything the present government did that is even in the remotest of ways comparable to the pathological corruptibility of the Jagdeo regime? Ramsammy was a huge part of Jagdeo’s rameseum. His relationship with Jagdeo was ramuliferous and for which he should be investigated.
THIS IDIOT TELLING GUYANA WE HAVE NO SAY IN THE 50% PROFIT SHARING AGREEMENT WE HAVE WITH EXXON.
