-Edge Officers in one-game win at ‘A’ Division Games Day
The Ministry of Public Security won for a second consecutive week on Wednesday afternoon in a domino humdinger at the Police ‘A’ Division Games Day at the Brickdam Police Station, with a one-game win over the
Officers of the Station.
Officers, unlike the previous week, romped to an early lead. However, the defending champions from last week, finished strong to pip Officers in the end with 79 games while Officers finished on 78 games. Media was third again with 68 games.
The fourth week of the competition continued the excitement owed to the close battles between the three teams. Each team filled the venue with encouragement and usual domino banter which helped propel the Ministry in end.
The Media again can only blame itself after two unforced errors and a bad round set them back. Kaieteur News’ Rawle Welch, despite battling back to secure crucial games, rapped twice with cards in hand while a five-game round in the fourth sitting did not help the Media up the ladder in the competition.
In addition, News Room’s Keon Blades and Stabroek News’ Duncan Saul were love birds in the first and fourth sittings, which also did not help the media. Assistant Superintendent, Anthony Austin was the other ‘love bird’ in the competition.
Ministry of Public Security’s Denise Baveghems was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) with 18 games while Deputy Superintendent, Denise Griffith was the best player for the Officers with 15 games while Colin Boyce recorded 17 games for the Media. The three teams will continue the rivalry next week at a location to be named.
