In keeping with its obligation of benevolence and charity, the Brethren of Lodge Alpha, No. 1594,
hosted it inaugural blood drive at Masonic Hall, Carmichael Street, last Saturday. Personnel from the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) were pleased to receive the contributions of the eligible Brethren who were able to donate blood.
This event was the first of its kind for the Lodge, and it is expected to be an annual fixture on the calendar of activities for Lodge Alpha.
“As a Lodge, our main focus is on charity and benevolence. Our benevolent and charitable activities revolve mainly around financial donations and in some cases materials to some entities responsible for the less fortunate in our society.
“While we will continue in this fashion of giving tangible and financial aid, we thought that the donation of blood is also a meaningful way in which to give of ourselves to save the lives of those most in need of help, hence the commencement of this blood donation exercise,” Brother Richard Francois said.
We at The Brethren of Lodge Alpha No 1592 are grateful for the support received from Mount Olive Lodge No. 385 and Wheel of Service Lodge No. 9431 in the donations of blood made by some of their Brethren.
“We would also like to thank Dr. Pedro Lewis and his staff from the NBTS for availing themselves and their services towards Lodge Alpha, so that this exercise could have materialized and be the success it was,” said Brother Francois.
