A 27-year-old Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) worker was killed in an accident early yesterday while on his way home from work on the Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara (EBD) Public Road.
The dead man has been identified as Nizamudeen Muhammed of Lot 616 Section ‘A’ Block ‘Y’ Golden Grove, EBD.
According to information received, Muhammed who was proceeding north along the western side of the road in a motorcar PRR 4768, allegedly collided with the metal rail of a culvert, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to topple several times.
The vehicle reportedly came to a stop after it struck a utility pole on the roadway. The police in a release said that the victim was flung out of the vehicle.
Muhammed was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
When this newspaper visited the victim’s home yesterday, neighbours said that he lived alone and that his relatives were residing overseas.
