Guyana opens new High Commission in Port of Spain

Second Vice-President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl B Greenidge and Dennis Moses, Trinidad and Tobago’s Foreign Affairs Minister, officially cut the ribbon on Wednesday evening to open the commission’s home on Alexandra Street, Port of Spain.
In attendance were members of the Diplomatic Corps and also St Lucia Prime Minister Allen Chastanet.
Exxon Mobil’s disco-very of oil in Guyana’s waters is set to make the country an oil produ-cing nation with the New York Times just last month reporting that Guyana is poised to become the next big oil producer in the Western Hemis-phere, attracting the attention and investment dollars of some of the biggest oil companies in the world.
Greenidge told the Express that in 2015, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Guyana President David Granger met and identified areas for mutual co-operation.
He said this country’s Trade Minister visited Guyana with a private sector team and they have been working on a framework which was first established in 2013.
