Demerara Distillers Limited under its Ivanoff Vodka Brand had supported the Kennard Memorial Turf Club for the staging of its XMAS meet which will be held on December 26 at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.
DDL Wines and Spirit Brands Manager, Maria Munroe, presented the trophy and cash prize for the winner of the two year-old event to chairman of the KMTC Justice Cecil Kennard at his office on Friday at Brickdam.
This year marks the 43rd year since DDL has been on board for the event and Munroe stated that her company is pleased to be part of the meet once again. She wished the competitors well and pledged their continued support.
Kennard expressed gratitude to DDL, adding that sponsorship is necessary for the growth of sports and thanked the media for the coverage. He informed that the track is in good shape and turfites can expect an action packed day.
The winner of the two-year old event will take home a trophy and $220,000 with the runner up pocketing $110,000.
