President of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA), Steve Ninvalle, is scheduled to leave for Switzerland this weekend to attend an AIBA
Extraordinary Congress. The Congress is slated for Fairmont Le Montreux Palace in Montreux, a traditional resort town on Lake Geneva and runs from December 19-21.
While there Ninvalle will make a case for funding for two international tournaments to be held in Guyana next year. The first is the second edition of the Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors in April and the first ever Inter Guianas boxing tournament scheduled for October.
While in Switzerland, the GBA president will also attend a special gala Black Tie ball in recognition of AIBA’s 70th anniversary. In 2014 Ninvalle became the first person from CARICOM to be elected to AIBA’s Executive Committee.
The International Boxing Association (AIBA) is a non-profit international organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the sole governing boxing body worldwide, with 200 member associations.
