Police have launched an investigation into an incident which has left a 30-year-old resident of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown nursing serious wounds at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Reports reaching this newspaper indicate that Orin Baptiste, of 343 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was shot with an arrow, beaten, chopped and left for dead on a trail at 14 Miles Issano, Upper Mazaruni, Region Seven.
The man is said to have ventured into the interior two months ago seeking employment.
While details surrounding the incident remain sketchy, Kaieteur News understands that the injured man was subject to an attack and beating by a group of men.
A source close to the investigation noted that the man suffered injuries to both arms as well as a gash to his left knee cap which was almost severed.
“He seems to have lost a lot of blood because of the multiple chop wounds,” the source explained.
Hours after he was left on the trail, Baptiste, a father of one, was found and airdashed to the city for medical attention.
Up until last evening, Baptiste was a patient of the Emergency Unit of the hospital, awaiting surgery.
