It is alleged that on November 24, last, at Ruimveldt, Georgetown, Gregory Anthony, used threatening behaviour and abusive language against his wife, Clare Thomas.
Anthony pleaded guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Magistrate Madan Kissoon at a sitting of the Night Court in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Police Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick stated that on the day in question the defendant who resides at Public Road Agricola with his wife, went home around 21:00 hrs under the influence of alcohol and called out for his wife who was at the time at the neighbour. The Virtual Complainant did not go close to her husband since she was afraid of him.
The defendant then began to use abusive language toward his wife and threatened to kill her.
As a result, the matter was reported to the Ruimveldt Police Station, an investigation was carried out and the defendant was arrested and charged.
Anthony explained to the Court that he was under the influence of alcohol and that he was annoyed when he reached home and his wife was not there. Her absence caused the outburst, he said.
After Anthony had finished, his wife told the Court that she did not wish to proceed any further with the matter, and will not be giving any evidence against her husband because they live together and are happily married for 23 years.
