The call for persons to keep animals off the road and for more lighting on the roadways of Guyana continues after a police Corporal was seriously injured after colliding with two cows.
Police Corporal, Satish Narine, 28, is now in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital after being rushed there from the New Amsterdam hospital. The accident allegedly occurred on the Suzannah (No19) Public Road, East Coast Berbice.
Narine, 28 of Cumberland, East Canje Berbice, is the subordinate officer in charge of the Albion Police Station on the Corentyne.
According to information, Narine had worked late and was heading home around 02:10hrs on Monday morning in his motor car PSS 4799 when he collided with the cows that were on the thoroughfare.
The man was heading west in the direction of New Amsterdam on the dark lonely road when the accident occurred. The vehicle flipped over and ended in a road side trench.
The injured police man was picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment.
The policeman reportedly suffered two broken arms, injured right shoulder and severe injuries to his back.
