Heavy rainfall on the Essequibo Coast prevented any play of the opening game of the Clive Gobin Memorial U16 cricket tournament yesterday at Zorg Sports Club ground. A new date for the commencement of the competition will be announced shortly.
The tournament, which will be played on a round robin basis at the U16 level, involves Abramville, NOC, Johanna Cecelia and Aurora Secondary schools as well as Zorg Sports Club and will be of 20 overs duration.
The club also will be staging a female softball competition on October 1 starting at 08:30hrs. Entrance fee is $5,000 and teams can contact Debra Daniels on 602-7110 or Davina Goberdhan on 673-5792 for information on registration.
Meanwhile, the organisers held a brief ceremony to mark the re-opening of the Zorg Sports Club members pavilion which was recently renovated the by the Gobin family.
