A total of 95 persons, inclusive of police personnel and civilians, recently graduated with varying skills in Computer Science when the Guyana Police Force, through its Zara Computer Training programmes, held a graduation ceremony for adults and youths at the St. Francis Community Developers Training Centre, Portuguese Quarters, Port Mourant, Corentyne.
A number of courses were conducted at the Felix Austin Police College (FAPC) at Adventure, Corentyne, Berbice.
Among the courses were the adults 1 of 2016, adults 3 of 2015, adults 4 of 2015, adults 5 of 2015, Computer repairs and maintenance 1 of 2016 and summer courses 1, 2, 3, of 2016.
The graduation was chaired by President of the St. Francis Community Developers Alex Foster who is also a member of FAPC board.
Among those in attendance were Divisional Commander of the Police ‘B’ Division Assistant Commissioner Ian Amsterdam, Force Training Officer Senior Superintendent Royston Andries-Junor, Force ICT Training Officer Superintendent Shivpersaud Bacchus and acting Commandant of the FAPC ‘B’ Inspector Elton Davidson.
The ceremony was addressed by Commander Amsterdam, who charged the graduands to “use the opportunity given, to better your life through practice. Make full use of your recently gained skills and always remember that education is the key”.
Also speaking were Senior Supt. Andries-Junor, Supt. Bacchus, Inspector Davidson and Mr. Foster.
Certificates were presented by all those individuals to the graduates, who in turn expressed their thanks to the Force for facilitating the class.
The tutors included Corporal Ramsay, Constable Jordan and Mr. Foster.
