The Executive and Members of the Berbice Football Association (BFA) will tomorrow be hosting of a
benefit event – three football matches – tomorrow from at 15:00hrs at the All Saints Church Ground (Scotts School Ground), Princess Elizabeth Road, New Amsterdam.
It will take the form a fund raiser for the family of Mr. Colin ‘Ash’ Bowry, a young Football Referee and Teacher of Smythfield, New Amsterdam, Berbice. Bowry was involved in a near fatal vehicular accident on Monday 25th July, 2016 at Lovely Lass Village, West Coast Berbice.
As a result of the accident, he was unconscious for about two (2) weeks and is still incapacitated, currently in a semi-conscious state.
Sir Ash as Bowry is popularly known has been involved in football all his life, first as a player who achieved national status and now a dedicated and prospective FIFA Referee. He is also a husband, father, and a Teacher by profession at the New Amsterdam Multilateral School.
All proceeds derived from this benefit event will be handed over to Bowry’s family in an effort to assist with medical expenses and any other necessary needs.
The day’s activities will commence from 15:00hrs with an Under-17 match, which would be followed by a Masters encounter featuring East and West Berbice. The feature game of the triple header showdown brings together respective senior teams from East and West Berbice.
The BFA has indicated that beverage giants Banks DIH has been approached for support. A stocked food bar will also be available to satisfy the appetite of the many fans and supporters who are expected to flock the ground to support a worthy cause.
