Men’s team finish 3rd
Guyana women lost their team title in a tight battle with Barbados in the final by a 3-2 match score when the curtains came down on the Caribbean Senior Squash Championship at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad on Sunday evening
Guyana wins came from Larissa Wiltshire and Taylor Fernandes who had helped tie up the match score only for Mary Fung-A-Fat to go down to newly crowned Caribbean Individual Champion Meagan Best 3-1.
The Men’s team, playing in the third place play-offs in a rematch of their pool game on Friday against Cayman Islands when they lost, reversed that result to finish in third place. Nyron Joseph, Jason Ray Khalil and Kristian Jeffery scored crucial wins.
The Veterans team also ended their competition with a close 3-2 loss to the Cayman Islands. Winning for Guyana were Ramon Chan-A-Sue (40+) and Alwyn Callendar (60+). They ended up placing fourth in their category.
The team finished in third place overall despite the injury to Sunil Seth. Guyana will look to regain all titles next year in St. Vincent where next year’s championships will be held.
