Plans to host the biggest and most successful Town Week in the history of Guyana are going full steam ahead as more sponsors come on board for the 46th anniversary celebration of Guyana’s smallest township, Rose Hall Town.
To date, Digital Edge, the Rose Hall Branch of Republic Bank, F&H Printery of Georgetown, Hephzibah Ministries of Rose Hall Town, R. Das and Sons Supermarket of Alness and the Government Information Agency have all join hands with the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club for the Town’s anniversary which is scheduled for September 14 – 25 next and it promises to be memorable one for every resident of Rose Hall Town.
Mr Sherwin Sinclair, CEO of Digital Edge has donated 100 copies of the 46th anniversary logo while Republic Bank (Guy) has donated funds for the publication of an 11 feet x 6 feet banner to inform residents of the upcoming activities.
Pastor Alvin Aladdin of Hephzibah Ministries and the Management of R. Das and Sons have also sponsored banners as a part of the public-relations campaign to promote the event across Berbice while the RHTYSC would also be working along with Mr. Azeem Khan, Communication Officer of GINA to produce a Television documentary on the history of Rose Hall Town, its development over the years and achievements in education, youth development and sports.
The documentary would be launched during the Town Week official opening on the September 14. B Division of the Guyana Police Force which has a close working relationship with the club has agreed to offer security for the Town Week celebrations, operate a booth at the Career and Business Fair while members of the Force and the Community Policing Groups would also be part of the March Past at the opening ceremony.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster who is spearheading the Town Week activities stated that plans for the grand celebrations are on stream and as usual, they have been able to attract numerous donors.
Among the events scheduled are the Opening Ceremony, Day of Sports, Medical Outreach Programme, Launching of Booklet on Rose Hall Town, Public Exhibition, Honouring Outstanding Residents, Opening of a Family Recreation Park, Educational Competitions, Steelband Concert, Rose Hall Town Cuisine Competition and a Career and Business Fair.
The events would be organised by the RHT Farfan and Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Females and Gizmos & Gadgets Under-21 Teams.
Foster has expressed gratitude to the donors for their support and assured that all the events would be properly organised with the objectives being achieved.
