Ansa McAl’s Non-Alcoholic Brand Manager, Anjeta Hinds has indicated that the conglomerate is fully supportive of the 2016 Boyce and Jefford Track and Field Classic VII scheduled for the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Linden on August 27-28.
Hinds disclosed that the meet this year will be sponsored under the Smalta and Lucozade brands during a presentation ceremony yesterday at the Beterverwagting Headquarters, East Coast Demerara.
“We are a proud sponsor of the Boyce/Jefford Classic and we continue to be on board for the last seven years due to their phenomenal growth and for them keeping it in Linden,” she said, adding that their support is for the development of sports in Guyana.
“We look forward to all the participants competing and we could not pass up this opportunity to partner with this meet. I know it was launched already, but it is important for us to do this just to show that we are 110 percent behind Boyce and Jefford Classic,” Hinds continued.
According to the Ansa McAl Alcoholic Brand Manager, MSC ground has produced some great athletes and it is only fair that they support the development of sports in general in Guyana. She said that the meet will be held just after the Olympic Games when everyone his hyped from what will take place in Rio de Janeiro in neighboring Brazil.
She informed that the company also supports the efforts that are being made to help develop the ground. Ansa McAl has been a sponsor of the meet since its inception in 2010; the company was also the first to contribute $3M to the development of the MSC Ground under its Stag Crown Your Community Project.
One of the Coordinators of the meet, Edison Jefford thanked Ansa McAl for their continued support and indicated that the Championships this year is scheduled to be the biggest so far with new countries confirming their participation.
According to Jefford, Antigua and Barbuda will be competing at the meet for the first time along with Jamaica, who will be returning. Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent and Grenadines, Grenada, Guyana’s US-based athletes and the Guyanese will match strides.
