Dear Editor,
The most striking thing about David Granger, the man, is how often his politics have been premeditated for self-preservation using quixotic actions like dancing on stage to sway the young voters during the campaign, and making promises to the youths that he knew all along he was not going to keep, once he assumed power. Talk to any of the old timers in the GDF and they will tell you he was a deskman, not a leader who led from the front.
Was his only motive power at all cost to bolster his pension just like his predecessors? We must ask Raphael Trotman who seems to have been part of the plan in the Bahamas when it was conceived. If one observes him, he had no ideological foundation and his passion is not to help the poor people of Guyana. This is where he falls deeply short of Hoyte, Burnham and Jagan since they were men on a mission, not for themselves, but for Guyana. Rather, like Bharrat Jagdeo, President Granger is all focused on his image.
But he has a special fetish; the military displays as a tool to present a false sense of security to the people, but that cannot buy milk in the shop. Most of the Treasury is now lost to his band of soldiers. How different is this from Jagdeoism? Who are Laurie London and Joe Harmon and Bobby Viera and all those other GDF officers and their business friends? Some very rich men, who will be so much richer because of the taxpayers by 2020. And who is at the apex of this cabal?
So as President Granger gives away big buses and boats, simultaneously he is causing the parents of those same children travelling in the boats and bus to pay more taxes. So he gives with one hand and takes twice as much from the people on the other hand. But he is wrong into believing that more and more people are not peeping into his self-righteous card. At the end of the day, all that matters to the people is what have you done for me lately. Just walk in village after village, they will tell you they cannot see the development, they cannot touch the development and thus in their mind they feel cheated by President Granger.
The people wanted an end to Jagdeoism. But today Jagdeoism is alive and well in Guyana, only this time operators in that cabal are mostly ex-GDF officers with a sprinkling of the political “soupnists” like the Nagamootoos and Ramjattans who are doing exactly what Jagdeo did – plunder the Treasury. So my message to Mr. Granger, your image of a good old grandfather is now shattered. We the people are seeing you for who you truly are and we shall take action come 2020 unless you change your aloof and obstinate ways.
Stop the flip-flopping and get on with developing Guyana and stop all these puerile excuses. Please! The people are suffering and you are the President and you have a moral duty to do something about it. This is not about your image; this is about bread and butter for the poor people. Please stop the public abuses under your watch.
Be a man and accept that your team is too inexperienced and useless on many fronts to get this job done. It is time you reach out to all forces, the opposition, the private sector, the Diaspora and distribute the work to more people. You need help and do not allow arrogance and aloofness to cloud good judgment.
Jai (Harry) Lall

Mr Lall, you have mentioned a few military personal but you did not mention the names of those Ex Indo Guyanese officers of the GDF who are called to service. The main problem with the Granger government is that it is too urban centered. It needs to also pay equal attention to rural Guyana if it is going to be an effective government. We all all aware of the problems in rural to urban shift in population.
