Headquarters established perhaps what will be an unassailable lead yesterday after the third day of the Guyana Police Force Inter-Division Championships at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.
Continuing with its lead after the swimming championships on Sunday, Headquarters closed the day with 414 points compared to ‘A’ Division’s 255 points. Country Division sits third with 105 points while ‘B’ Division is fourth with 74 points.
Clarence Green threw 48.94m to lead a clean sweep in the Male Javelin ‘B’ Class competition for Headquarters with Kleon Spellin (45.99m) second and Lindon Wilson Jr. third.
Natasha Alder won the female ‘A’ Class version with 30.21 ahead of Nickita Renne of Trinidad and Tobago and Country Division’s, Latoya Rodney.
On the track, Shaunsel Adams won the 800m in 2:42.2 for Headquarters ahead of ‘A’ Division’s Shion Boyer (2:45.5) and HQ’s Eva Harry (3:04.3). Winston Dummett led a sweep in the event for ‘A’ Division with a win in 2:05.9 ahead of Kadeem Peters and Jayon Johnson, who returned 2:07.6 and 2:08.6 respectively for second and third.
Nathaniel Giddings returned to form in the 5000m with a win in 16:47.9 for Headquarters, which helped them sweep the race. Quacy Morian was second in 17:25.5 and Grevon Grant third in 17:52.1.
Headquarters won both the 3000m Male Medley Relay and 2400m Female Medley races. ‘A’ Division was second in both, while the Overseas mixed team finished third in the male race and the B Division third in the female race.
The competition continues tomorrow at the same venue.
