As detectives continue to investigate the brutal shooting to death of two men and a teenage boy in the Blackbush Polder area, the victims were yesterday laid to rest.
The funeral attracted a large gathering as residents of the small community of Mibicuri came out to pay their respects.
Wails and screams resonated from the home of the slain men as persons gathered to get one final view of their remains. The funeral service was conducted according to Christian rites at the Village Church.
The bullet-riddled corpses of Pawan Chandradeo, Naresh Rooplall and Jaikarran Chandradeo, were found last Friday in the Cookrite Savannah backdam at Mibicuri, Black Bush Polder, Corentyne.
The trio left for a fishing trip with Jaikarran’s younger brother, Alvin Chandradeo, who was left at a pump station on a dam, as the others went further into the savannahs to fish.
The lad stayed at the pump station from where he reportedly heard gunshots
The slain teen still had a bag with fish slung around his shoulder. Three shotgun cartridges were found near the bodies.
According to reports, the victims were found by Sudama Jagmohan, a rice farmer of Mibicuri South, Black Bush Polder and his workmen.
According to Jagmohan, he was on his way to his rice field at Cookrite area where he also has hassars.
Jaghoman said that on their way to his farm, the group found the bodies lying on a dam in his rice-land.
He immediately called a neighbour who informed the police.
The police have several suspects in custody as the investigations progress.
