The second annual Andrew ‘Six-Heads’ Lewis Novices Boxing Championships starts Friday and runs until Sunday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
The event was originally set for the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) last weekend but had to be shifted due to several unforeseen circumstances.
The young boxers have been preparing at their respective gyms and are eager to get into action. They will be required to present themselves tomorrow for the weigh-in and medicals from 17:00hrs at the Six-Heads Gym in Albouystown.
The championships involve 11 gyms from all three Counties and keen competition is anticipated among the young fighters over the three nights.
The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will be keen to mount a successful defence of their title in a tournament which has attracted over 60 young pugilists.
The action is set to start at 19:00hrs nightly. The competition will feature action in both male and female categories.
Two gyms from Essequibo, Rose Hall Town from Berbice, two Gyms from the Mining Town of Linden and six from the other parts of Demerara will participate.
Admission is $500, while children will be admitted free. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the young boxers.
