The football fraternity has been plunged into a state of mourning following the passing of Manager of the Elite League Club side, Monedderlust FC (MFC), Kevin Layne Sr.
The 38 year-old who hails from #5 Village West Coast Berbice and was one of the pillars in the rise of the MFC passed away yesterday morning.
Layne, whose involvement in football spans over 20-years, took on the responsibility of being Manager of MFC over six years ago and has been one of the stalwarts that have contributed towards the rise of the club and its eventual qualification as one of the first Elite League Club sides in Guyana, historical.
Layne’s wife, Nichelle, remembers him as always being on the positive side of life despite his challenges.
He was also one of the persons that led in the development and transformation of the #5 ground which is the pride of Berbice in terms of a standard football facility.
This ground has one of the better surfaces and has hosted Elite League matches as it is equipped with the requisite amenities needed, testimony to Layne’s vision to have one of the best facility’s in Guyana.
Members of Team Unity and the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation whilst expressing condolences top the wife, children and family of the late Layne, expressed shock at his passing noting that he was a dedicated servant of the game.
Layne Sr leaves to mourn his wife Nichelle, son Kevin Jr, daughter Trevlyn and other family members. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Kaieteur Sports also extend sincere condolences to the wife and family of the late Kevin Layne Sr, may his soul rest in peace.
