Guyanese players succumb at quarter-finals hurdle
Guyana’s leading Male & Female Badminton Players, SUNBURST Narayan Ramdhani & Priyanna Ramdhani both lost in the Quarter Finals at the Pan American Junior Badminton Championships at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento Lima Peru.
Guyana’s Pan Am four time medalist Priyanna Ramdhani again performed at her best in the Quarter-Finals Singles against No. 2 Seeded player Sharon Au of Canada who was extremely tough to pass. Priyanna lost the first game at 21-9, fought valiantly in the second game but eventually lost 21-19.
In the Girls Doubles with her partner Sara Michelle Barrios of Guatemala, they lost in the Quarter-Finals to the No.1 seeded doubles pair Sharon Au & Rebecca lee of Canada: 21-11, 21-19.
In the Boys Doubles Narayan Ramdhani & Shea Martin lost to Ricky Liuzhou & Cadmus Yeo of USA: 21-7, 21-9.
The GBA extends thanks to The Guyana Olympic Association & National Sports Commission, Mr. Yesu Persaud of Demerara Bank, Mr. Philip DaSilva, Mr. Neville Osman & Continental Group of Companies (SUNBURST) for their contribution in making the Tour possible.
The Guyana Junior Team will now focus on preparing for the Caribbean Badminton Championships (CAREBACO) in Aruba, August 18-27.
