A Grove, East Bank Demerara man was remanded to prison yesterday for discharging a loaded
firearm at another man, when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
It is alleged that on June 20, at Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, Andrew Fields discharged a loaded firearm at Kevin Batson also known as Kero.
Fields was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until July 12, when the matter will be called for reports.
Fields was unrepresented and told the court that he does maintenance work on a farm.
Police Prosecutor, Deniro Jones objected to bail for the accused citing the gravity of the charge and the fact that other charges are likely to be laid against him. The prosecutor said that the complainant is still hospitalized.
