…allegedly placed woman in car trunk
A 25-year-old Corentyne man who is reportedly always in the habit of abusing his wife, and had locked her in his car trunk during the hours of the night before driving away with her, was yesterday remanded to jail on a charge of abduction.
The man, Neeshwar Dhoray, of 206 Block X Hampshire, South, Corentyne, Berbice, is accused of abducting his wife on June 18, last, from their home with intent to secretly or wrongfully confine her. He appeared before Magistrate Marissa Mittelholzer at the Albion Magistrate’s Court, and was remanded to jail.
Prosecutor Inspector Orin Joseph said that about 22:00 hrs on June 18, last, the woman, Farida Dhoray, was in bed when the man came home from work. He immediately rushed into the bedroom and began beating her. He dealt her several slaps and struck her behind her head. He then pulled her off the bed and dragged her out of the house. The woman was then forced into the trunk of his car, HC 97. He then locked the trunk.
The woman began shouting for help. The man then turned up the music loud so as to drown out her screams, then entered the car and drove off at a fast rate of speed. The man subsequently stopped the car and opened the trunk. That was when the woman noticed that she was at a lonely place. She subsequently recognized that it was in the vicinity of the front of the Port Mourant Community Centre. She noticed two security guards and began calling for help. She jumped out of the car and started to run towards the public road. However, she was chased after and caught before being taken back to the car and placed to sit in the back seat.
The woman tried to escape, but was prevented as the accused drove off with her. The man then drove for some time until he slowed in the vicinity of the R and S Cross where the woman opened the door and jumped out of the moving car. The matter was reported and the man was subsequently arrested and charged.
In court, Inspector Joseph opposed bail on the grounds that the accused is on a bond arising from a matter of similar nature before the court. It is the third time the two are before the court. On each occasion the charge has been more serious. The Prosecutor also objected to bail on the grounds that there is a possibility that if granted bail the accused will tamper with the witness.
Dhoray, a security guard attached to the Albion Estate, was remanded to jail until July 11.

Why are these criminals put on bail knowing that they are doing heinous crimes? Come on guys stop putting these criminals on bail, let them stay in jail until their hearing comes up. Build two more large prisons that will hold at least 10,000 criminals.
