Over 100 residents in the Sisters Village, East Bank Berbice area, benefitted from free spectacles and reading glasses as the Lions Club in New Amsterdam and East Canje Districts held a one-day outreach on Saturday.
Several persons from outside the village also had their eyes tested and were given spectacles free of cost.
Club President from the East Canje District, S. Moti, reminded of the organization’s motto which is “We serve” and emphasised that this was what they were upholding.
Last week, the East Canje district embarked on another project, whereby speed bumps were painted in the streets of Canefield, East Canje and Fort Ordnance. Mr. Moti mentioned that they are planning other projects for the rest of this month. He said that these will include a blood drive and dental procedures.
Kaieteur News understands that these two clubs will soon be visiting areas as far as Baracara. The former President of the East Canje district, Devindra Sookraj was also present at the two exercises.
