The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) has hundreds of items that have been brought
into the country by that entity and not cleared.
The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), in a notice published April 2 in the Official Gazette, said that it will be disposing of the items.
The items, which came via air cargo includes boxes of books, car parts, and clothing and even one parcel containing cannabis seeds mixed with coffee beans.
There are also expired medications, religious pamphlets, US army clothing and cell phone chargers.
If still unclaimed, a parcel for Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, former Health Minister, which contains two packs of shavers with blades, will likely be for sale.
There are also computer items, a camcorder and even documents for the Guyana Defence Force.
The Caribbean Heart Institute has machine readable badges available which it has failed to pick up.
Someone has also failed to collect a bottle of personal lubricant that has been brought in.
According to GRA in the notice, persons who have liens or claims on the cargo must forward them with the details to its Head Office on Camp Street within one month.
The notice did not immediately say the period when the packages would have been brought into the country.
In recent months, GRA has started publishing notices for items, including vehicles, that have been left sitting on city wharves but which have not been collected.
The entity said it wants to recover the taxes and other charges owed.
