The pair of Mohamed Qualander and Seku Fredericks emerged winners of the inaugural
Guyana National Rifle Association (Guyana NRA) / Everall Franklin Memorial Hand Gun Shoot sponsored by Industrial Safety Supplies which took place on Sunday last at the Guyana Defence Force Timehri Ranges.
Attracting 15 teams of two shooters each, the competition shoot saw Qualander, a former national Hand Gun Champion and Fredericks shooting their way to total of 547 points and 10 Bulls which was enough to ink their names on the challenge trophy ahead of a number of other good shots.
Occupying second place were Gordon Richards and Romesh Latchana on 508 points and 7 Bulls whilst third were James Singh / Ray Amjad on 491 points and 4 Bulls. Fourth place was occupied by the pair of Lawrence Layne / Stafon Dundas – 478 / 4 and fifth place, Murtland Smith / Jermaine Softley also with 478 points but two less bulls.
Guyana NRA Small Bore Captain Dale Hing said that they were very pleased with the turn out of shooters but will be aiming to better this next year as more entities will be invited to compete. He expressed gratitude to committed sponsor, Industrial Safety Supplies for their continued partnership with the national body in fostering the development of the sport.
